New CCRO!!
SWORDS Rugby Club is aiming to put the Fingal capital on the rugby map and a native of the town will be the driving force.
Jonathan Gaule has been appointed the club's new community rugby
officer and will be looking to grow both the game and Swords RFC's profile in the area.
Having taken to the sport relatively late, the 25-year-old has seven
years' playing experience under his belt and lined out in the back row
of the Greens' first team last season.
And with the new season and school year about to commence, he's eager
to continue the club's extensive work at youth level.
‘I'm delighted the club have appointed me and I'm looking forward to
getting into the role,' Jonathan said.
‘Swords is a growing town, with a huge population and there is massive
potential for rugby and for our club.
‘A lot of hard work has already been done and I'm hoping to be
involved with as many schools as possible in the coming months.'
An enormous amount of time, effort and resources have been pumped into
the underage sector at the ALSAA-based club, who were formerly known
as Aer Lingus RFC.

P.S: The club would like to extend our thanks to Jamie Gormly who has filled the position of YDO/CCRO for the past few seasons. Due to other commitments Jamie was unable to take up the position again this season; his huge personal effort and great work was much appreciated by the club's commitee, and we hope that Jonathan can continue to build on the solid foundations already put in place by him. We also hope this will free Jamie up to tog out a bit more often for the seniors!! |
