Swords Festival of Rugby Set to Kick-Off

THE Heineken Cup is on the way to Swords as rugby fever is set to grip the town once more. Swords Rugby Club are staging a ‘festival or rugby' over the weekend of November 13th, 14th and 15th and the famous trophy, won by Leinster last season, will be in tow.

An array of events are planned over the three days, as the club looks to develop its links in the community, while offering a glimpse at life inside the
province's fastest growing outfit. It all kicks-off on Friday, November 13th with the official launch of the club's Under-13s at ALSAA, starting at 7pm, while the senior seconds side will also be in action.

Saturday, November 14th will see a club open day, running from 1pm to 6pm at ALSAA and people of all ages are welcome to attend. Kids can take part in a number of fun games and tag rugby, while there will also be photo opportunities with the Heineken Cup and free Leinster goodies. Swords first team will be in action at 2.30pm, while a number of Leinster players will be in attendance, a free raffle will take place with a club shirt up for grabs and the Ireland v France football qualifier shown live in ALSAA that night.

Then on Sunday, November 15th, the club's mini teams will officially be launched in Brackenstown, while a recruitment drive will take place in the Pavilions Shopping Centre from 12pm to 5pm. Swords have also teamed up with their official club sponsors, Wright's Café Bar, who will not only be showing the Ireland v Australia autumn international live at 3pm, but will also host a rugby-themed night that evening, where the Heineken Cup will again be out in force.

‘As a club, we're delighted to be staging our first ever festival of rugby,' Swords RFC president, Alan Butler said. ‘We're a community-based club and we are eager to build on the strong relationships we have established in the town of Swords and beyond. ‘The weekend will be a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come down and experience rugby at their local club and to get involved.'
