Five Make Debuts as Seconds Kick-off

Swords Seconds opened their 2007/08 campaign at home to Ashbourne on Sunday, and though they went down by four tries to one, there were still plenty of plus points from their first outing.

Juris Beikmanis' penalty got Swords off the mark, before substitute Derek Brennan crashed over for a try. A relatively young Swords side had no fewer than five debutantes lining out and their performances bode well for the future. Joe Leydon was impressive throughout, particularly in the lineout, while the pack got through plenty of hard work. The Seconds next fixture is away to Athboy on Sunday.
