Pre-season Training Up and Running

PRE-season training at Swords Rugby Club is well underway with the big kick-off to the league campaign looming on the horizon.
Training continues this week on Wednesday and Friday evening at 7pm at ALSAA (opposite Dublin Airport) and all players, with and without prior experience, are welcome to join.
Training will then take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm ahead of the first set of matches in September.Swords will travel to Clonmel for a pre-season match at the end of August, before a friendly with Trinity on September 8 and a Jenkinson Cup tie at home to Fingal rivals Skerries on September 16.Three further Jenkinson Cup ties follow - away to Athboy and Dundalk and home to Boyne - while the Leinster League campaign kicks off on October 14, with North Kildare the visitors to ALSAA.
Coach Tony Lawless and newly appointed Captain, Shane Mulligan, are eager to improve on a mixed season last year, while an influx of new faces has already boosted playing numbers. The 2006/07 campaign was blighted by a mixed pre-season, with a number of fixtures cancelled and the Greens will be keen to hit the ground running this time around.
