Kenny Nuzum - Hall of Fame Inductee 2005

Referees, opposition front rows, disciplinary boards, players past and
present: love him or loathe him, they all know Kenny.
The name Kenny Nuzum is renowned around the rugby fields and changing rooms
of Leinster and no more so than at ALSAA, his spiritual home of recent
years.
The former Lansdowne prop has been at the heart of the Leinster club rugby scene for decades and has played with and against some of the top names of Irish rugby.
Since joining the club in the 1990's - where he formed the formidable a
front row partnership with Shay Collins and Eugene Maguire - Kenny has
proved, both on and off the playing, to be nothing short of a legend. The deserving winner of the inaugural Swords RFC Hall of Fame Award, Kenny
continues to offer insight and knowledge to the next emerging crop of front
rowers.

His tutoring of the then novice front row AJ Clarke, went a long way in the
young prop's attainment of every rugby player's dream - a professional
contract.
The Connacht prop was present when his mentor accepted his Hall of Fame award from local
TD and former Ireland international, Jim Glennon, at the official launch of
the club in August 2005."How are your ears Jim?" quipped Kenny, as only he can.
Sadly, medical reasons forced Kenny to hang up his boots last December, but
his retirement did not go unmarked, as Swords held a special over-35s match
against Coolmine on the eve of his 50th birthday.
Kenny continues to be a voice of support on the sidelines, a source of teaching on the training ground and an inspiration on and off the pitches at Swords Rugby Club.
Some words on Kenny...
"Kenny has this amazing ability to arrive on tour fully dressed and lose his
clothes by the time he's crossed the door frame of the hotel room."
Mossie Merrigan, Swords RFC.
"My toughest ever opponent." Jim Glennon TD, Former Ireland international.
